Learning Disability Coliving Upgrade

One of our clients contacted us to develop a scheme for upgrading their existing coliving accommodation, two terraced houses linked internally,  for people with learning disabilities in Tunbridge Wells to improve it to support mental and physical wellbeing, improve natural light levels, incorporate a new kitchen dining living area and facilitate better community functioning. 

 

Wellstudio proposed a newly re-planned kitchen/living/dining area on the ground floor, removing obstructive columns which have been dividing the space and replacing them with steelwork to enable the re planning of the space with a much enlarged and modernised kitchen which can be used by all residents as well as a new dining area which will encourage residents to sit together as they eat.  A new activity area is also to be created with a glass separating wall allowing visual connection at the same time as acoustic separation and the entrance hallway widened out to create a much larger arrival space with coat and bag storage. 

On the 1st and 2nd floors above all bedrooms have been re-planned to include en-suite bathrooms.

The client is very pleased with the result and is currently evaluating construction costs
